SC15 OpenMP 4.5 Slides

Would the OpenMP committee be willing to post the slides in regards to OpenMP 4.5? It would be useful to have a quick and concise overview of the changes to 4.5. For those of us working on test suites that are 4.0 heavy, would make it easier to target in on 4.5

Re: target data copyin/copyout

Sorry, I was using OpenACC lingo. Very much my bad. OpenMP equivalent would be the Map directive. 4.0 Map Clause [2.14.5] map([map-type:]ist) Map a variable from the task’s data environment to the device data environment associated with the construct int j = 5; #pragma omp target map(to:j) { j = j +...

Re: New 4.0 constraint on ATOMIC

Sorry you haven't received a reply on this. Am kind of curious if there is a better forum for asking such questions, because your post is of interest to me as well. Not sure why these forums are so dead. Perhaps either lack of interest in those who know willing to reply, or just general lack of know...

Distribute/Teams/Threads/Offloading

Been reading through spec and examples and feel like I am missing something critical here. For Off-Loading, how specific does one have to be in the declarations to utilize the max potential of GPU? I want to present a few scenarios and would like to get feedback. Environment1: Single CPU with four c...

Re: How to improve OpenMP with for loops?

Did you ever find a methodology for making this run more efficiently in parallel?

Re: Problem glibc fatal error

I would suggest posting the entirety of the code at Stack Overfow. Usually they want the entire thing to look at. Just because that one variable seems to be what triggers the error, doesn't necessarily that something after it's immediate utilization wasn't broken by it.

Teams/Threads

On OpenMP 4.0, when I offload work to a GPU, what do the Team/Threads represent? Is easy for me to conceptualize a quad-core cpu, each core being a team, and for hyperthreaded cpus, 2 threads per core.

What does that look like hardware wise for a GPU? A team = GPU Core? What about the thread?

target data copyin/copyout

May be a silly question, but if I had:

int j = 5;

then I create a target data region and did a copyin for j, within that target data region, I did j = 10. I do not do a copyout from that data region.

Outside of that data region (back on host), does j now equal 5 or 10?

OpenMP 4.0: Acceleration Ready Compilers

Was curious, are there any compilers with full OpenMP 4.0 acceleration support that would run on a K40 Tesla card with an AMD CPU/APU? See a lot of work being done on it, but nothing that seems feature complete. GCC 5.1 mentions in their change log offloading support, so wasn't sure if they have it ...
